Tice is a great stylist. It took me a long time to find a salon to fit me. Always look forward to my five week appointment. Great conversation or if I just want to rest, they're respectful.

Great staff. Fun environment. Great location. Clean and professional experience with all the Southern Salon Charm you would expect. First haircut since lockdown and Skye strategized, then cut and styled my new look almost intuitively while walking this previous "crew-cutter" through the care and future maintenance of my now longer locks. Highly recommended and her experience shows with the final "soap opera hair" outcome (that's a good thing).

Katie did my haircut. I was a little disappointed that she didn't really give me much of a consult. Also a little disappointed that she didn't give me a full shampoo (I felt when I left my hair looked and felt greasy still). I am sure it was because I did point out to her that my hair had been shedding a lot lately but still. I would have rather had a wash and slipped on the brush blow dry since I felt that was more unhealthy for my hair. Overall she did what I asked and gave me a good haircut with layers.

This salon is the best kept secret in Durham. but it would be selfish not to share this with others! The service is excellent, well-priced and Skye has an incredible knowledge base of how to care for and maintain your style. I left feeling confident and reassured of my choice. This is the best hair cut I've gotten, hands down, and I've been to MANY places over the years that have ruined my hair.

I came for an undercut today and my hairstylist definitely delivered. I was originally nervous and excited as I've always had conservative hair my whole life so I wanted to change things up. We talked about what I wanted and she definitely walked me through what I was getting. It's hard to find another stylist to trust with my hair as my last one moved to Cali, so perhaps I came in with high expectations.

I personally wish the hairstylist took more time into talking to me about how I could style my hair, maintaining my look, and what products I can use or not use. The whole process felt a little rushed(~20min), but I understand all hairstylists are different. While I would love to come back, maybe next time it'll be with someone I have more chemistry with.

I love my hair! This is the best place I have gone too! Brittney Tice was the one who did my hair and she is so amazing and patient! She left my hair exactly how I wanted and so beautiful and soft. I completely trust them with my hair and will only be going here from now on. The atmosphere is very nice and the rest of the stylists' are super sweet and awesome at what they do as well. 10/10 experience!

I came into Salon Povera after receiving a terrible haircut elsewhere and Patrick saved the day! He is extremely detail oriented, he listens to your vision, answers all of your questions and he's an expert colorist. Don't waste your time anywhere else. There is so much expertise inside of this small salon, check them out!

Big things come in small packages, and Salon Povera exemplifies this concept. Tricia was worth the wait, during which I was offered wine, coffee, tea or water! They seem to have a tight knit team and help one another to the benefit of their clientele. I am beyond pleased with my haircut, and even more thrilled with Tricia's recommendations. She tried to save me money instead of upselling me, which is rare and appreciated.

I will be back, along with as many friends as I'm able to refer! If you're uptight or have expectations of a spacious luxury salon, you should go elsewhere. But if you want the same experience and quality haircut for a fraction of the price, Povera=perfection.

I have been going to Salon Povera for a few years now and I am so happy I found them. Brittany is the BEST! She is so kind, very timely, listens to her clients and always delivers on cut and color. I have gone to Brittany for years. She helped me figure out how to change my look. She is great to consult with. Listens and provides advice. I appreciate that she is kind of a hair rescuer. It's a great salon with a lot of great products. I would drive an hour and a half to get here no problem

I got in with Patrick yesterday, I love him. He's so sweet and personable and the man can do some hair! I went and got my hair blonde this summer in Florida and my grays work crazy growing out! He worked his magic, matching the same shade and telling me how to maintain it and when to come back. Everyone in the salon is super friendly and there's such a nice vibe. He's got my loyalty back!

Thank you Yelpers for helping me find my new hair salon! I had a great experience getting my hair cut and styled by Brittany. After being fed up with the trendy downtown Durham salon I had been going to due to difficulty parking and issues scheduling appointments, I was anxious to find a new salon that offered better service and was closer to home in South Durham. Brittany gave me a fabulous new haircut, and recommended the perfect moisture and shine lotion that makes my hair smoother and shinier without weighing it down. I look forward to my next appointment.

It's a small salon, but fresh and modern, with a very helpful and kind staff. I had booked online with one stylist, who was busy, so Pam was more than happy to take care of me right away. Pam did a fantastic job, especially since I was cutting off a lot of hair to donate to Locks of Love. Hello, I wanted to take some time to thank the folks at Povera for the recent service they provided me, my scalp and my hair. When I walk into Povera I feel like I am walking into a stylish salon that I've only seen in bigger cities like New York and San Francisco. The great customer service started when I was directed to the Povera website to book my appointment for a men's haircut.

The process was seamless and the tools they provided on the site are fast and easy to use. So as you have probably figured out by now I am a guy. A lot of times when I stroll into a salon it smells like bad barn gas (perm smell) however Povera smelled like sweet lilies in full bloom. Team Povera has created an atmosphere that will keep me coming back until my hair stops growing. Great job, great haircut, great feeling scalp massage and friendly service. What else could a guy ask for when getting his hairs cut.

Patrick is the most amazing hairdresser I have ever experienced. I really need to call Patrick an ARTIST. After moving from San Diego 10 years ago I searched for a new stylist. Had a few bumps in the road until I found Patrick. He is an amazing color specialist so creating color that works for me, my personality and my hair is something he does with perfection. Patrick takes so much pride in his work.

I never feel that he rushes through my appointment to get to the next. He has always been extremely honest with what style would work best for me. And. let me just add. I have never had a bad hair cut. I now live almost 4 hours away and I won't look for anyone else. When you find the best you stay with the best. Patrick has the best personality as well. The BEST! Patrick Hawker has a PhD in color. My naturally red hair had long gone mousy and gray and Patrick brought me back to life! Red is hard to get right, and I've tried many salons searching for a natural looking solution and didn't get one until I found Patrick. So glad he's opened this gorgeous new space. Run, don't walk to Salon Povera. Whatever your color needs, Patrick can do this for you!
